Membership Benefits:

GAPSE & APSE Websites

  • Report updated information on numerous issues relative to integrated employment
  • Provide electronic communication with our members for rapid distribution of e-news and information updates
  • Provide Action Alerts on state and national issues affecting our work and our future

Public Policy Initiatives

Both APSE and GAPSE are dedicated to equitable employment for people with disabilities – real jobs for real people! APSE monitors issues including funding support for SE and community integration, rights of people with disabilities, social security work incentives, and many other issues. GAPSE supports APSE in their advocacy with Congress as APSE supports GAPSE on state and local issues.

Conferences & Skill Development Opportunities

APSE sponsors an annual national conference to provide a forum for sharing and collectively improving SE practice and opportunities for people with significant disabilities. Next year (2010) GAPSE will be the co-host of the national conference to be held in Atlanta. GAPSE members have access to conference activities at reduced rates.

GAPSE sponsors an annual statewide conference (except 2009 due to severe state travel restrictions/budget reductions) and one-day training events based on the reported needs of members. These events are open to all Georgians but priority and reduced rates are given to GAPSE members.

GAPSE Newsletter

GAPSE members receive four issues of the GAPSE Newsletter each year. Typically, we share Highlights since the last issue, report success stories, discuss local issues affecting supported employees and service providers. Recently, we’ve started the Job Coaches Corner. The newsletter is distributed electronically and archives may be found at both the GAPSE and APSE websites. Articles from all members are welcomed.
