About Georgia APSE
As a state chapter of APSE, Georgia APSE (GAPSE) shares the mission and values of our parent organization. APSE, a membership organization, was formed in1988 as the Association for Persons in Supported Employment and in1994, GAPSE was recognized as a state chapter. As our purpose broadened to include customized and self- employment, the association’s name was reduced to the acronym – APSE.
Our Mission is equitable employment for people with disabilities.
To accomplish this mission, GAPSE:
- Promotes national, state, and local policy development which enhances the social and economic inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities
- Provides advocacy and education concerning the value of integrated employment.
- Focuses on expansion and growth of integrated employment services
- Improves employment practices so that individuals and communities experience high quality services with meaningful outcomes
